Pastor Steve Shebs grew up in the Bay Area of California and attended college at Oregon State University, studying business and participating in the Army ROTC program. He was saved in November of his senior year, and graduated the following June with a BS in Finance and a commission as a 2LT in the US Army. Pastor Shebs spent 5 and ½ years on active duty serving in Virginia, Alabama, Texas, Korea, Germany, and finally Colorado where he met and married his wife Brenda.

Bro. Shebs was called to preach while serving under Pastor Gene Woods, 1st Baptist Peaceful Valley, in Colorado Springs. Bro. Shebs resigned his commission in 1981 and enrolled in Bible College. The Lord led the Shebs to Leesville, Louisiana, near Ft. Polk in September of 1983 and he became the founding pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Pastor Shebs completed his MBA in 1991.

He has pastored Cornerstone Baptist for 30 years with an emphasis on reaching the military at Ft. Polk. He is currently on the board and is involved with Light in the 10/40 Window, a mission work the reach the most populated areas in the world. Pastor Shebs has made 5 mission trips to India along with trips to Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
